Walking from the house to the beach

To walk to the beach, take a right out the front door and head down Castle Drive. Just before the turn-around at the bottom, on the right side, there is a large grey electric transformer. Behind it there is a steep foot path that heads down to the beach. It’s fairly rigorous, but short and well maintained by locals who have built steps out of old tires. At the bottom you cross a little bridge, then left and a quick right into downtown Oceanside. Going up the path is tiring; you need good knees. It can be tough on the very young or out of shape, or those don’t like steep paths, or if you happen to be carrying much of anything. Takes 10 minutes to get to the beach, at least twice that to get back up.

Upon returning to the house, enjoy at least one cold beverage.
